Big deal. So what, you've met a free loading, sponging tax dodging woman. I think we've all met one of them, right husbands??

I was once fitting a carpet at a block of luxury apartments in South Manchester. I had the roll outside on the drive when a yellow Ferrari came up from the underground car park. So I started to roll up the carpet and picked it up to take inside when the drivers door opened and this guy jumped out and said ' hang on mate I'll give you a lift ' promptly put his shoulder under one end and followed me in . I turned around to thank him only to see it was Teddy ( God ) Sherringham on his way to a European night game at Old Trafford !! I could see tha headlines in the Manchester Evening News if he had ' pulled ' his back !! This was the year United won the Champions League and he did it with special training from a carpet fitter !!

living in the Southampton area I have worked for various footballers/managers- carpeted Laurie Mc Menemy's place when he first arrived to manage Southampton FC also did Allan Ball's place [1966 world cup winner] other footballers who I am now unable to remember sadly, oh yes one more Frank Saul moved to Saints from Spurs in early 70s did his place too. Did repairs in prep for visit of Princess Margaret at Government House in C Islands in late 50's but wasnt formally introduced needless to say! Worked in past for Ronnie Ronalde you young chaps will need Google for that one! Thats it for now memory is failing need either food or new Duracels next.

When did you start fitting then Mike?I think it was the late 60,s when Frank Saul came to the saints. I think he was the makeweight in the Martin Chivers deal,Frank was a good player, underated i think.I worked in Alan Stephenson,s house in 1972, he was a centre half who at the time had a big money move from Palace to Westham, and then to Pompey.I have also worked for Micky Quinn, John Mclelland and old Pompey great Peter Harris
mellosoul and Mike Vivyan like this.
